Tripadvisor AI Product Design Sidekick
Overview
I designed and built an internal AI collaborator to help Tripadvisor’s design and product teams move faster while staying aligned with research and the Atlas Design System. Powered by internal UX research and system guidelines, the Sidekick translates ambiguous problem spaces into clear, implementation-ready outputs.
Instead of searching across research decks, Confluence, and Figma libraries, teams receive synthesized guidance that maps insights directly to design decisions—recommending system components, prioritizing tasks, and defining actionable next steps.
Operational Framework
The Sidekick uses a structured prompting system to ensure clarity and repeatability:
Confirm the goal to ensure alignment on intent.
Validate RTCCF (Role, Task, Context, Constraints, Format).
Deliver a scoped, structured response (table or chart).
Define success metrics or evaluation criteria.
Recommend next steps to move from exploration to execution.
Key Capabilities
Research Synthesis: Surfaces relevant internal research, patterns, and known usability risks at the moment of decision-making.
Design System Alignment: Recommends Atlas components and interaction patterns to reduce design debt and off-system solutions.
Decision Support: Frames problems, clarifies trade-offs, and prioritizes work based on user and business impact.
Impact
Reduced time spent searching for research insights and design system guidance.
Increased consistency and adoption of Atlas components.
Accelerated progression from problem framing to implementation.
The AI Sidekick boosted operational efficiency by accelerating research-driven, system-aligned decisions across design and product teams.
